The South. From FL, to TX, GA, to NC or SC, there are dozens of states which are considered part of 'the South' in the US. With this being said, it is one of the areas which many retirees choose to call home after they no longer with to work. Why? Low crime rates, low cost of living, walkability scores are high, and there are many small, tranquil cities from which to choose, in many of these states which constitute 'the South' in the US. So, how do you go about deciding where to retire, and which of the top cities and states you are most going to enjoy as a retiree?

Of course you need to keep several factors in mind. The city's safety rating, walkability score (in terms of how close and proximate areas are in terms of walking), what attractions and amenities you desire, and of course cost of living, are a few of the many things to consider as a retiree. No matter what you desire as a retiree, what your budget is, or what kind of warm weather you seek when choosing to live in the South, these are a few of the top states and cities to consider as a retiree, when the time comes for you to decide where to move after you have chosen to retire from your previous employment.
